The statement coat is something to aspire to, invest in and relish at. Make yours a lesson in high quality and timeless style.

If you have decided to splurge on one single item of clothing this winter, it had better be a nice, straight lined coat. Lean towards the cashmere blended ones that keep a soft feel even after years of wear-and not-tear and choose from the soft palette of beige to brown. The one we have chosen here has a little mustard twist to it, to keep it fresh and of the current season

There are a few simple rules to go by, in order to make the most of this, your outfit’s centerpiece:

·Pair with total black outfits for a professional look and leave some playroom for your socks or accessories.
·Jeans are a strong partner if you are looking for a relaxed, afternoon look.
·If you want to play the ton-sur-ton game, do it right by choosing a sweater or pullover, one or two shades lighter (or darker) than your coat. Just don’t steer too far away…
·Want to try the three-color look we have achieved here? The best way to achieve it successfully is by respecting the color coordination between the coat, as this is the protagonist of your look, and your main characters: Here, the belt and shoes strongly emphasize the coat’s color without making too much of a fuss. (Remember: the quieter the result, the better the players involved)
·Let’s talk length: it is very important for your coat to fit you, not just on the shoulders but also by taking into account your height. If you are not sure what length is most flattering for your body type, go with a style similar to this one, featured on our post: It feels like a very long, slim cut blazer and stops right where it should: High over the knee.
·If the length is just right, you can even play with the length of your pants, to create a funky fresh result whenever it is called for.
